Christian Lopes has over 20 years of experience in Corporate Law and Arbitration. He graduated from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais - UFMG (1998), is a specialist in Corporate and Economy Law by Fundação Getulio Vargas (2000), has a Masters in Law (LL.M.) by Columbia University (2002), a Master and Doctorate of Law by UFMG (2003 and 2011).
Professor of Arbitration and Private Law at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. He is also director of the Brazilian Arbitration Committee (CBAr), former director of the Chamber of Corporate Arbitration – Brazil (CAMARB), former director of arbitration of the National Council of the Mediation and Arbitration Institutions (Conima) and member of IBA – International Bar Association and of the Minas Gerais’ Lawyers Institute. Christian has been appointed as one of the best arbitrators in Brazil according to Leaders League.
He authored the books “Correção Monetária: Tempo e Dinheiro no Direito”, “Responsabilidade pré-contratual: subsídios para o direito brasileiro das negociações” e “Mitigação dos prejuízos no direito contratual”, organized the books “Lei modelo Uncitral sobre arbitragem comercial internacional” and “Arbitragem Comercial Internacional e os 60 Anos da Convenção de Nova Iorque” and has written several articles on Corporate Law, Contract Law and Arbitration.
