Chern possesses extensive experience in the realms of insurance and corporate risk, having established a reputation as a trusted adviser on financial lines matters within the industry. This expertise is particularly focused on issues related to directors and officers, professional indemnity, and warranty and indemnity. Chern's legal acumen has been instrumental in representing several of Australia's major insurance companies and their clients across a variety of complex cases, including securities class actions, bushfire class actions, shareholder disputes, breach of warranty claims arising from merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions, and claims against financial advisers and construction professionals.

Currently, Chern fulfils the role of editor-in-chief of MinterEllison's Insurance Contracts Act Handbook. This position not only aligns with but also fuels Chern's passion for insurance law and the industry at large. In addition to legal practice, Chern takes great satisfaction in educating clients about insurance law and policy issues, demonstrating a commitment to both the legal and educational aspects of the profession.
