Charlie Caher helps clients resolve complex cross-border disputes, leading teams in international arbitration matters across multiple jurisdictions and sectors and English Court commercial litigation. With a particular focus on energy, infrastructure and construction, he regularly represents corporates and sovereigns in high-stakes international disputes, delivering results through strategic guidance and tenacious advocacy.
With more than 20 years of experience, Mr. Caher represents corporates and sovereigns in high-stakes and complex international disputes worldwide, acting as first chair advocate on bet-the-company cases. He has represented clients in international commercial arbitrations under the rules of all major institutions, including the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, AAA/ICDR and DIS. He is a Solicitor-Advocate with Higher Rights of Audience in the English High Court.
Mr. Caher has represented clients in numerous institutional and ad hoc arbitrations under all major arbitral institutions, and in most major civil and common law jurisdictions, including London, Paris, Stockholm, Singapore, The Hague, Bermuda and Brunei. Mr. Caher's international commercial arbitration practice covers a wide range of industries, with a particular focus on energy, construction, insurance, financial services, telecommunications and aerospace.
In addition to his commercial arbitration practice, Mr. Caher has also represented a major international construction company in a series of complex and high profile construction litigation disputes before the English High Court and Court of Appeal, and represented the Sudan People's Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A) in the public international law Abyei Arbitration.
Mr. Caher is a member of the ICC’s Arbitration and ADR Committee (UK), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and an executive member of the London Chapter of Arbitration Ireland.
