Mr. Curtis is based in Perkins Coie’s Madison, WI office. He has over 35 years of experience in counseling and litigating in diverse areas, including constitutional, appellate, administrative, political, antitrust, intellectual property, environmental and natural resource, Native American, distribution, and general commercial law. He focuses his practice on the briefing and argument of complex issues at the agency, trial, and appellate levels. His commercial litigation clients have included global leaders in technology, manufacturing, mining, sports, finance, and consumer goods. Mr. Curtis has devoted much of his time in recent years to litigation involving voting rights and election law disputes. He helped to lead the Perkins Coie teams that represented President Biden in the 2020 Wisconsin Presidential recount and judicial appeals, and that represented the Democratic Party in defending against numerous additional lawsuits challenging President Biden’s Wisconsin victory.
Mr. Curtis has been included in the Chambers USA Wisconsin General Commercial Litigation rankings since 2004, and in the nationwide Native American law rankings since 2009. He clerked for Senior Judge David L. Bazelon (DC Circuit) and for Justice William J. Brennan, Jr.
