With a career that spans nearly 40 years, Carol Buckmann is one of the foremost employee benefits and ERISA attorneys in the country. A pioneer in this area, she is widely known for her understanding of issues related to ERISA, including pension plan compliance, fiduciary responsibilities, and investment fund formation. Her clients – global and U.S. companies and attorneys – rely on her for practical advice on complex pension law and fiduciary problems. Carol advises global employers on U.S. and cross-border employee benefits matters and represents clients from multinational to local companies, non-profits, universities, and individuals in matters such as designing, establishing, and operating benefit plans, implementing policies and procedures to reduce fiduciary litigation risk, and related tax implications. She advises on ESOPs and transactional M&A work such as pension problem-solving and harmonizing benefits.
