Bruce Genderson founded and is the senior trial lawyer of Williams & Connolly LLP’s patent litigation practice, which Benchmark Litigation recently named “IP Firm of the Year.” His clients include Bayer, Eli Lilly, Novartis, Merck, Samsung and Google.
Bruce was elected a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2009. The 2016 edition of IAM 1000 - The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners notes that Bruce "masterminded the firm’s rise to prominence in the IP space," that he is “a brilliant strategist and indefatigable worker, with extraordinarily good judgement," and that “he commands immense respect from opponents and judges….” The 2014 edition describes Bruce as a “gold-standard litigator” who “has this wonderful mix of being likeable yet extremely tough, …cerebral, but with great street-smarts ….” Managing Intellectual Property (2015) states that he “has been described by peers as a ‘superb trial lawyer.’" LMG Life Sciences (2012) states that “peers consider [Bruce] to be ‘one of the best patent litigators in the country'." LMG inducted Bruce into its Hall of Fame, and in 2019 awarded him "Branded Hatch-Waxman Litigator of the Year." Bruce also receives top rankings in IP litigation in the 2013 to 2020 editions of Chambers USA.
