Brett Stewart

Brett is a partner in McMillan’s Private Equity and Mergers & Acquisitions Groups, Brett’s practice focuses on private equity buyouts, investments and strategic mergers and acquisitions. A seasoned deal-maker, Brett is sought after for her cross-border expertise in particular. As Chair of the American Bar Association’s Private Equity and Venture Capital Committee, Brett possesses a strong understanding of the North American market and specializes in assisting US entities making inbound investments into Canada. Brett’s expertise spans across many industries with particular experience in agriculture/food, technology, aerospace/defence, manufacturing and transportation. Brett co-authors Canadian Chapter of the Global Legal Group’s International Comparative Legal Guide to Private Equity. Brett has previously taught both Private Equity law at Queen’s University, Faculty of Law, and Business Associations at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University. Brett was identified as a rising star by both Lexpert Magazine and IFLR1000 Financial and Corporate Guide.
