Career
Dr Bernd Egbers is one of the leading practitioners in his field, with more than 20 years of experience in the European finance market. He advises private equity funds, debt funds, banks, and corporates on leveraged buyouts, acquisition finance, and corporate lending.
Before co-founding Astera Legal in 2023, he was a partner at Renzenbrink & Partner in Munich. Prior to that, he spent several years at Ashurst LLP in Munich and Frankfurt, where he also served as a member of the Global Board from 2016 to 2019.
Dr Egbers studied law at the University of Münster (1994–1999) and obtained his Ph.D. in law (Dr. jur.) from the same university in 2001. He later attended Harvard Business School’s Executive Education program in Leadership in Law Firms (2015).
