Azael Socorro Márquez is a Founding Partner at Victum Legal with more than 15 years of experience advising on complex litigation, arbitration, corporate and technology matters, with both domestic and cross-border dimensions. Azael Socorro is actively involved in academia and the Venezuelan arbitration community. He is a Professor of Guarantees Law, Business Law/Rights in Business and Law and New Technologies at Universidad Metropolitana (UNIMET), and has also served as a guest professor at Universidad Monteávila.
His academic work reflects his broader professional interest in the intersection of law, business and technology, complementing his practice in dispute resolution, corporate matters and technology-related legal issues.
Azael is also an active member of Venezuela’s arbitration community and a recurring speaker at the Asociación Venezolana de Arbitraje’s flagship arbitration congress, including its 2021, 2023 and 2025 editions. He is listed as an arbitrator by the Arbitration Centre of the Caracas Chamber of Commerce and has been included in CEDCA’s Official List of Arbitrators and Conciliators since 2025.

Azael Socorro Márquez advises companies, investors and business groups on complex litigation, arbitration, corporate and technology matters in Venezuela. His practice combines strong procedural advocacy with a front-end approach to disputes, helping clients assess risk, define strategy and anticipate enforcement issues before formal proceedings begin.
He represents clients in high-stakes civil and commercial disputes before Venezuelan courts and in domestic arbitration proceedings, leading matters from early strategic assessment through hearings, appeals and enforcement. His work frequently involves corporate and shareholder conflicts, governance-related issues and disputes requiring a combination of procedural depth and commercial judgement.
Alongside his contentious practice, Azael maintains a significant corporate practice, advising on corporate governance, business-critical decisions and matters where transactional or governance issues intersect with potential dispute exposure. This combination allows him to approach complex corporate situations not only from a transactional perspective, but also with an understanding of how decisions may ultimately be tested in contentious proceedings.
Azael also has a strong technology-related advisory background. He holds an LLM in Law and Technology from Tilburg University, obtained Cum Laude, and regularly advises innovative businesses, including technology and e-commerce companies, on matters with both domestic and cross-border dimensions.
