Anthony has a broad practice in commercial litigation, international arbitration, professional liability claims, civil fraud, public international law, and human rights. In recent years he has acted on appeals in the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, has been led in substantial trials in the Commercial Court and Companies Court, and has conducted numerous trials as sole counsel in the High Court. Anthony’s professional liability work focuses on auditors’ and solicitors’ negligence, including claims in the Court of Appeal and Commercial Court, and offshore in the Isle of Man and various jurisdictions in the Caribbean. He has been involved in a number of the leading cases in recent years, including the Supreme Court’s re-examination of the scope of duty in BPE Solicitors v Hughes-Holland and the Court of Appeal proceedings in Brown v InnovatorOne. A recent highlight was the success at first instance and on appeal defending a £75m claim in Khanty-Mansiysk Recoveries v Forsters LLP, listed as one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 Cases.
Anthony has experience sitting as an Adjudicator under the Professional Negligence Bar Association Rules, is a former member of the PNBA Executive Committee, and co-authors the leading practitioner’s text, Jackson & Powell on Professional Liability (8th ed).
