Practice Areas

Anne Studd QC has been instructed by the police and other public authorities over many years. As a junior and in silk she has been involved in very many of the high profile cases and inquiries. Currently she is instructed by the Mayor of London to represent his interests in the Grenfell fire Inquiry. She continues to be retained by Avon and Somerset in IICSA and UCPI. She is also regularly instructed in claims for judicial review on a wide range of subjects including police disciplinary matters see R (on the application of Williams) v Police Appeals Tribunal & Anor [2016] EWHC 2708 (Admin) impact of mitigation in disciplinary proceedings; the lawful disclosure of information under the Police Act 1997see conjoined appeals R (P ) v SSHD and another [2017] EWCA Civ 321 (disclosure of reprimand for sexual offence committed whilst a child). INQUESTS and civil claims arising from deaths: Hillsborough for St John Ambulance; Burrell - death in mental health setting after police restraint; McClean Williams - death of pedestrian suspect after collision with police vehicle, Blackham - death of police officer in the course of PSD inquiry.
