Career

Anne Chapman has established herself as a premier white-collar defense attorney with over 20 years of dedicated experience defending individuals and corporations in high-stakes criminal and regulatory matters. Following her distinguished service as an Assistant Federal Defender, Anne has built a practice marked by strategic precision and exceptional courtroom advocacy.

Anne's comprehensive criminal defense expertise spans complex cases involving bank, mail, and wire fraud; consumer fraud; mortgage fraud; money laundering; identity theft; privacy violations; terrorism offenses; fraud schemes; firearms smuggling; criminal copyright and trademark allegations; and classified national security matters under the Classified Information Procedures Act (CIPA).

Recognized for her leadership in white-collar criminal defense, Anne has become the trusted advocate for clients navigating parallel civil and criminal investigations, False Claims Act litigation, and consumer fraud actions. Her practice regularly involves defending clients against investigations and enforcement actions from the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, Internal Revenue Service, Arizona Corporation Commission, and State Attorneys General.

Anne's corporate advisory work includes anti-corruption compliance programs, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act training, and conducting internal investigations. She frequently serves as counsel to Special Litigation Committees and has been selected to conduct investigations on behalf of government entities.

Her unparalleled courtroom credentials include defending one of the most significant federal terrorism cases in U.S. history—a capital defense matter related to the September 11, 2001 attacks—which culminated in an eight-week jury trial and life sentence. Anne continues her commitment to high-profile national security defense through her work with the ACLU's John Adams Project on a Guantanamo Bay Military Commissions death penalty case.

In addition to her legal practice, Anne is a national leader in the white-collar defense community. She serves as Co-Chair of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) White Collar Crime Committee and is the leader of the Phoenix Chapter of Women in White Collar Criminal Defense. In Arizona, she serves as Chair of the Maricopa County Capital Defense Review Committee, serving on the committee since its inception in 2012.
