Practice Areas

Expert in civil law, commercial law, cross-border court, and arbitration proceedings. Appeared before courts of all instances, the Supreme Court, the Supreme Administrative Court, and courts of arbitration on numerous occasions. He conducted multiple court proceedings for the recognition of foreign court judgments and arbitral awards in Poland. Successfully represented injured parties before Polish courts in the so-called ‘zabużańskie’ cases (cases related to repatriation from the former Polish territories presently in the territory of Ukraine); one of the first attorneys-at-law in Poland to engage in class actions.

Career

Professor of Jagiellonian University. Involved in educational and scientific activities. In 2004-2007, the Head of the Chair of Civil Law at Jagiellonian University.

Arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration at the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce. Expert of the Parliamentary Justice and Human Rights Committee on formulating the bill on the pursuit of claims in class actions.

Co-organiser of and lecturer at Polnische Rechtsschule, since 2014 a member of the Advisory Board of the Czech (& Central European) Yearbook of Arbitration. Former Vice-President of the Polish-German Lawyers Association (Deutsch-Polnische Juristen Vereinigung e.V.). Former Vice-President of the Polish Bar Council and Deputy Dean of the District Bar Council in Krakow.

Member of the Krakow Bar Association of Attorneys-at-Law. Former member of the Prime Minister’s Legislative Committee.

Author of many scholarly publications in civil law, labour law, administrative law, and international legal transactions.

Personal

He completed his Master's in Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. He defended his doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Holder of the Humboldt Foundation Scholarship.
