Andrew Lee

Andy is a Partner and Head of Intellectual Property at Brandsmiths.

His practice focuses primarily around contentious intellectual property work with a particular focus on trade mark and copyright enforcement for which he is particularly acknowledged. Andy is known for his technical ability and knowledge of case law, with his forte being tricky points of procedure or law. He has been described in the legal directories as "super-intelligent", "cunning, strategic and aggressive" and "an inspired choice for must-win cases". Andy won the UK Soft IP practitioner of the year at the 2023 Managing IP EMEA awards, and is listed in Chambers Global which ranks the top global lawyers in over 200 jurisdictions across the world.

Andy has led high-profile IP disputes in the High Court, IPEC, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. He also has experience of obtaining interim injunctive relief for clients including search and Norwich Pharmacal orders.

He adopts a robust, aggressive approach to litigation combined with commerciality to help steer clients towards the result they want to achieve. He has an impressive client following across many sectors of industry and has particular experience acting for luxury and consumer brands.

He is the firms representative with the Intellectual Property Lawyers Association and regularly contributes to consultations on law and practice.
