Ali El Hage Filho

An experienced energy attorney with an extensive track record advising on multi-billion-dollar international oil and gas projects and operations, Ali Hage is a partner of the Firm’s Oil, Gas & Biofuels and Infrastructure & Projects practices, based in Rio de Janeiro.

Over the past 20 years, Ali has worked across different businesses segments within the oil and gas industry, from natural gas distribution and transportation to the full life cycle of the upstream, from early licensing and exploration to production and decommissioning. He is extremely familiar with providing strategic advice to oil and gas businesses, leveraging on his strong legal and operational knowledge of the industry to add value on how transactions should be structured and how risks should be managed.

Ali has led and coordinated legal support to a variety of matters relevant to the oil and gas industry, from financing, M&A transactions and project development to critical issues closer to companies’ operations, including disputes, regulatory and ABC compliance, emergency response and procurement.

Prior to joining the Firm Ali worked other top-tier Brazilian law firms and, for circa 13 years, in senior in-house legal counsel roles in Brazil and abroad with BG Group (Shell). With Veirano since 2017, he often advises clients operating and/or investing in oil and gas (including LNG) industries, also undertaking transactional and regulatory mandates relating to energy transition projects, particularly in respect of biofuels.
