Alexander is a leading UK commercial lawyer with a wide-ranging practice, including over 30 years’ experience in the music industry.
“I’m first and foremost a music and copyright lawyer, and I’ve been advising on music rights for over 30 years. I manage the commercial music team at Wiggin – we advise a wide range of clients on music matters, both copyright owners and copyright licensees: record labels, music publishers, digital platforms (particularly SVOD services), music distributors, music financiers, video games developers, film and TV producers, music industry trade bodies and collective management organisations. We are particularly experienced in global collective rights licensing, and also in music catalogue finance and acquisition.
My other area of work is in the publishing sector, where I advise book publishers, magazine publishers and online publishers on a range of issues, including podcasting.
Outside client work, I sit on the Executive Committee of the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers, and I’m a member of the British Literary and Artistic Copyright Association. I am on the Board of the Gloucestershire-based charity The Music Works, whose work is transforming the lives of children and young people through music.”
