Alejandro Pérez Arellano, partner at the law firm Flor Bustamante Pizarro & Hurtado (FBPH). He has experience in financing transactions totaling more than USD 2 billion, provided by multilateral and international public organizations, in both sovereign-guaranteed and unsecured financing granted to the Republic of Ecuador, including: financing for the expansion of the national power grid, in a transaction valued at USD 100 million; financing for the construction of the expansion of the water supply system for the city of Quito, in a transaction valued at USD 70 million.
As well as experience in financing transactions provided by private international financial institutions to Ecuadorian private companies, including: financing provided to the concessionaire of Guayaquil’s drinking water and sewer service in a transaction valued at USD 70 million; financing provided to the concessionaire of the Port of Posorja—the first port delegated under a public-private partnership (PPP) model—in a transaction valued at more than USD 300 million; financing provided to the concessionaire of the Port of Bolívar—the second port delegated under a PPP model—in a transaction valued at more than USD 175 million; financing provided to LATAM Airlines for debt restructuring totaling more than USD 2.5 billion; financing provided to Quiport by a syndicate of local banks in the amount of USD 200 million; financing provided to Banco del Pacífico by JP Morgan in a transaction exceeding USD 500 million; syndicated financing provided to the largest sports retail company (Todoplay) in a transaction valued at more than $230 million; a loan granted to the country’s largest private university in the amount of $18 million.
He has served as a consultant for USAID, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the IDB and others.
