Vanguard International Dispute Resolution is a Paris-based law firm specialising exclusively in the resolution of high-stakes international disputes through commercial and investor-state arbitration, arbitration-related litigation and mediation.

The firm was founded in 2025 by prominent arbitration practitioners Melanie van Leeuwen and Sophia von Dewall,, who boast between them decades of experience during which they have handled a combined total of more than 150 arbitrations as either counsel and arbitrator.

Vanguard’s clients include multinational corporations, states, state-owned enterprises, international organisations, SMEs and private individuals. At present, Vanguard is handling arbitrations in a broad array of sectors including finance, construction, corporate, energy, natural resources, pharmaceutics, technology and telecommunications.

In addition to its prestigious international arbitration practice, Vanguard also has extensive experience in arbitration-related litigation, including in annulment, enforcement, revocation, emergency and interim measures proceedings before domestic courts.

Vanguard’s fast-growing and dynamic team is currently composed of two partners and four associates admitted to practice in Paris, New York and Amsterdam.
