In 1959, founder Dale Rhoades served in the city attorney’s office while moonlighting at his part-time law practice. Now, over 50 years since its inception, Rhoades McKee offers over 25 legal practice specialties in two locations. Unique to this firm in 2016, the Rhoades McKee litigation group was privileged to represent three clients in three separate business-related disputes, all tried by juries. All three cases resulted in significant victories for Rhoades McKee clients. Recent studies in the United States show that only 1% of cases are tried. The Court of Appeals held that the doctrine of res ipsa loquitur (“the thing speaks for itself”) applies to premises liability claims. Prior to this decision, there had been no published decisions in Michigan addressing this issue in a premises liability case.

Our client gave his retirement funds to the defendant for purchasing and rehabilitating specific properties. The defendant transferred the money to his solely owned side company and spent the money. The Court granted summary judgment to our client on his conversion claims and awarded treble damages.
Reversing the Burden of Proof: Lying Doesn't Pay-Discovery Misconduct
We represented the plaintiff, who was hired to grow the defendant company and was paid a salary plus 20% of the company’s profits. The company owner depressed the company profits by improperly expensing items. Our finance and accounting backgrounds were crucial to resolving this case out of court.
Unauthorized Stock Sale: Jury Awards Damages and Sends Message to an Unclaimed Property Firm
After an unclaimed property firm authorized the sale of stock with the client's authorization. The firm pocketed the proceeds from the sale. The client brought the case to trial. The jury found in favor of our client by awarding $64,391.34 in actual damages and $32,195.67 in treble damages.
