In M&A, the firm represented Posti Corporation in its acquisition of Suomen Transval Group Ltd, Total Specific Solutions B.V. in its acquisition of MediaMaestro Oy and Cxense ASA in its acquisition of Enreach Solutions Oy. For several years in a row now, a great deal of the banking and finance work undertaken by the firm was made in relation to real estate market, including both property acquisition financing and refinancing transactions. Clients in that sector included, among others, Mercada and Aberdeen Standard Real Estate Funds. During the year, the firm also experienced increase in demand for regulatory advice especially by foreign financial institutions operating in the Finnish market.
During the past year, Merilampi completed a substantial number of real estate transactions. In the field of dispute resolution, Merilampi has top assignments from all relevant areas: commercial litigation, arbitration (both domestic and international), ADR, white-collar defence and insolvency related advice.

Merilampi’s highly regarded Competition and EU law practice continues to be one of the corner stones of the firm.
The firm’s competition experts have recently been particularly busy with merger proceedings before the competition authorities. For example, Merilampi represented Posti Corporation in its acquisition of Suomen Transval Group Ltd before the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA) and Kesko Corporation in the creation of the joint venture with Oriola Corporation before the FCCA and the European Commission. Furthermore, Merilampi represented Kesko Corporation in merger control proceedings including Kesko’s acquisition of Onninen Ltd. Other examples of Merilampi’s versatile competition expertise include the successful representation of Posti Group Corporation and Posti Ltd before the Helsinki Court of Appeal in a case relating to the imposition of VAT in postal services. The firm is also involved in many follow-on damages cases (e.g. the Car Parts Cartel) and abuse of dominant position cases. In addition, the firm regularly represents high profile companies in cartel cases (e.g. the Bus Cartel), public procurement cases as well as cases related to distribution systems and e-commerce.
