Firm Overview:
Habayeb Advocates and Legal Consultants was established in Amman, Jordan in 1966 by Sami Adib Habayeb, a lawyer who has practiced in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon since 1946 before establishing the firm in Jordan. Starting as one of the very first law firms in the country that focuses on providing legal services and dispute resolution to international clients, the firm continues to be involved predominantly in the fields of commercial, civil and criminal laws of Jordan, construction, corporate/commercial matters, information technology, intellectual property, labour, maritime, renewable energy, retail, telecommunication, aviation, banking, auditing, automotive and tobacco. The firm’s members engage in international arbitration disputes as counsel and arbitrators. The firm has over 50 years of experience before the Jordanian courts and has obtained landmark judgments in the fields of maritime disputes, enforcement of foreign awards, construction disputes, termination of agency and distributorship agreements, and enforcement of intellectual property rights. The firm is also engaged in corporate matters, including the establishment and setting up of companies and businesses in Jordan, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, liquidations, and the drafting of various forms of contracts, including but not limited to FIDIC-based construction contracts. The firm was involved in the drafting of the Arbitration Law of Jordan and the Maritime Law of Jordan, amongst others, in addition to providing consultations on legislative drafting on a regular basis.
