GBP regularly works with some of the largest entertainment business operators assisting them with the legal aspects of the acquisition and sale of film rights, leases, the protection and economic exploitation of copyright issues, production and distribution agreements, purchasing agreements, licensing agreements, as well as with the negotiation and drafting of agreements with actors, directors, publishers, producers and distributors; all of this at both the national and international level. In addition to contractual services, GBP also provides legal advice on financing for film, theatre and multi-media productions, representing lenders, producers and distributors, in production and co-production agreements, sale and lease-back transactions, and other funding tools. The firm also provides assistance with the negotiation and drafting of agreements with advertising agencies, publicity sponsorships and telesales, including production placement in motion pictures or television products.
GBP has extensive experience assisting individual writers, producers, directors, and actors, among others, with their legal requirements relating to the motion pictures, television, theatre, publishing and advertising industries. This experience also includes assisting with the protection and exploitation of clients’ television, musical, publishing and multimedia products. These products can range from TV movies, television series, talk shows, reality shows, documentaries, radio talk shows, theatrical productions, as well as adaptations and revisions for specific transmission mediums to full length feature films.
The firm has been historically advising clients on the edge of conversion from analogue to digital communications, with specific regard to digital terrestrial transmission through fixed and mobile devices (including bandwidth agreements, EPG slots and advertising issues) and related M&A, regulatory, labour, commercial and operational issues.
