Friedland Cianfrani was founded in 2023 as an IP litigation boutique by Michael Friedland and Joseph Cianfrani. They had both been partners at Knobbe Martens for more than 25 years. Mr. Friedland had been the co-chair of the firm's litigation practice group, and Mr. Cianfrani had been the chair of its litigation group. Since its founding, the firm has grown to seven lawyers who continue to represent clients in patent, trademark, trade secret and copyright cases in California and nationwide.

The firm focuses on all facets of U.S. IP litigation, and its lawyers have represented clients in more than 400 IP cases since 2000. We differ from most boutiques in that our lawyers have elite credentials (three graduated from Harvard Law School and three have federal clerkships), and all have big firm experience. We differ from big firms because all of our lawyers are highly experienced; our most junior lawyers have practiced for five years, and our attorney average experience is 17 years.
