Dispute Resolution – Arbitration and Litigation 

The firm has extensive expertise representing high profile local and international clients in both litigation and arbitration proceedings and other alternative dispute resolution. Once the matter is relating to litigation and arbitration, Freihat Attorneys’ litigators come to the fore in the legal marketplace. They are recognized for their best-in-class litigation and transactional experience.

The firm’s practice in litigation covers high stakes disputes before the courts in relation to contractual, commercial, tortious, insurance, regulatory and administrative disputes, white collar, criminal investigations and prosecutions, securities litigation, and real estate and landlord/tenant issues. Freihat Attorneys is representing a leading mining company in Jordan in several lawsuits in relation to mining contracts, with the value of these cases exceeding USD 560 million.

Banking and Finance 

Beside counselling many banks on day-to-day operational matters, Freihat Attorneys represents major local and global banking institutions on high stakes issues before the Jordanian courts, including mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, compensation claims, executive succession, facility contracts, and crisis management. The firm represented a regional banking institution before the Jordanian courts and submitted a claim for monetary and moral damages amounting to USD 28 million. It also filed a lawsuit on behalf of a local bank against a global auditing company with a financial claim for compensation of damages and lost profits, following the bank’s discovery that its accounts were exposed to a fraud and embezzlement scheme resulting from recent auditing procedures estimated for the purpose of fees at USD 17 million.

Labor and Employment 

The practicing attorneys have extensive expertise in all matters pertaining to labor relations, employment law, and Social Security Corporation Law. Freihat Attorneys acted on behalf of the largest tobacco companies operating in Jordan against a competitor in a trademark forgery case that violates the provisions of the Trademark Law.

Providing consumers and businesses counsel on all aspects of competition law, offering protection from conduct that is deemed anti-competitive or unfair. Moreover, the Firm provides compliance counselling to clients on complex national requirements related to competition laws and regulations. Recently, the firm successfully represented a telecoms company in an unfair competition claim initiated by a competing company, with a value reaching USD 70 million, where the said claim was dismissed by the court.
