Who we are

DCH Law LLP is a boutique law firm providing tailored legal services, with noted expertise in renewable energy. In 2025, the firm celebrated its tenth anniversary.

We understand firsthand the challenges that companies and their in-house counsel face: all of our senior lawyers have full-time in-house counsel experience, several DCH partners were former general counsel, and one of our senior attorneys was the CEO of a battery company. With this experience, we help corporate counsel navigate critical business challenges, and we guide business leaders to make smarter decisions.

We are a small firm with physical offices in Orange County and North Carolina’s Research Triangle, but because of our expertise, we have a national footprint of attorneys and client base.

Services

We help clients structure, negotiate, and close commercial transactions across various renewable energy practices, including solar, energy storage, wind, energy efficiency, EV charging infrastructure, and renewable natural gas Related experience spans data centers and Bitcoin mining facilities.Because of our firm’s vast work experiences we also advise on general corporate matters including new entity formation, corporate governance, best practices and processes for risk mitigation, and litigation avoidance. We also pride ourselves in our use of new technologies. We leverage the latest legal technology to be cost effective in our work, including the ethical use of AI.

We work to be the best firm for you. Our partners have created a different type of firm that rewards working as a team: the firm has no origination credit for partners, and the firm incentivizes partners who hand-off work to the most qualified and available person in the firm for any matter. We collaborate as a team to load-level workload, and the firm is known for fast turnaround times while also balancing individual workloads for better work-life balance for our personnel. This coordination takes much effort, but it is worth it for both clients and attorneys alike.

For smaller companies that do not have dedicated in-house legal resources, we often act as “outside general counsel,” working closely with executives to manage risk. We can help companies effectively select and manage other service providers, and we are not afraid to advise our clients when we are not the optimal legal provider for a matter. We focus on being the best at our core work and recognize that we cannot be everything to everyone.

For larger companies with dedicated in-house resources, we often become a regular “go-to” firm for repeat work within our areas of expertise. The vast majority of our firm’s business is repeat business with long-term client relationships that have been cultivated over the working careers of our team.
