The firm was founded by late Alhaz Abdus Samad, one of the leading advocates of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and a pioneer income tax advisor of Bangladesh. Currently, the firm is managed by four partners and is comprised of a group of young energetic lawyers and seasoned veterans. Main Areas of Practice:

Regulatory Matters:
■ Advising World Bank Group (IFC) and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority to support the OSS Project and formulating regulatory process and legislative reforms for improving investment climate in Bangladesh and services for foreign and local investors
■ Advised and assisted Textile chemical giant, Huntsman Textile Effects, paint and coating giant AkzoNobel, and global chemical company EVONIK, on investment in export-processing and economic zones including procuring necessary approvals/licenses/certifications as well as incorporation of subsidiary in Bangladesh
■ Advising TomTom through Bird & Bird regarding regulatory requirements and structuring of launching of GEO location-based product in BD

Telecommunication & FinTech:
■ One of the partners of the firm was part of the consultant team for drafting the revision of Telecommunication Rules and Act
■ Advised social media giant on global telco project of network infrastructure and on mobile termination, telco VAS Companies on FinTech deployment

■ Assisting various commercials and NPOs, including IBTCI, ETIHAD, SOAS, MSF, etc. with range of employment/HR issues, including drafting service rules, PF rules, WPPF, disciplinary manual, redundancy etc.

Energy & Power Sector
■ Advised leading law firms and MNCs on multiple power projects including a 1120 MW LNG based Combined Cycle Power Project, 53.9372 MW and 55 MW HFO based power project, 1320 MW Coal Fired Power Generation Facility, 320 MW Coal Based power plant and a 60 MW Windmill Power Generation Project

Capital Market
■ Advised Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd. in respect of Automated Trading System Project and provided consultancy services to a sponsor shareholder of UCBL appertaining to transfer of shares outside the Trading System of CSE

Corporate Structuring & Restructuring including M&A:
■ Providing structuring, restructuring and various other forms of M&A supports to leading brands, including Sarens, Evonik Industries, Navana Digital Equipment Ltd., Codes and Labels Ltd., Milvik Bangladesh Ltd, etc.

Dispute Resolution:
■ Conducting ICC Arbitration, local arbitration, international mediation and all types of litigation for various clients

Real Estate & Land
■ Providing range of services to clients like BPDB, Alcazer Energy etc. for determining ownership of land through land due-diligence and physical verification

Banking & Finance
■ Advised leading law firms like Mayer Brown and White & Case as of-counsel’/ ‘specialcounsel’ and their global clients for introducing factoring venture through offshore banking and processing payments between the parties for purchasing Receivable Rights; and for introducing mobile financing and micro credit facility related venture
■ Advised various banks, NBFI, project financers, venture capitalists, MNCs and JVs regarding issuance of commercial paper including Islamic CPs, bonds, syndication and terms loans

■ Advised Etihad Airways on VAT issues and provided Assessment Report to Tahota Law Firm on taxation matters for a cigarette manufacturer in BD
