Based in Devon, Apricity Law is a boutique firm specialising in Court of Protection, Attorney ship and Personal Injury Trusts. We provide tailored legal services to individuals and families who have experienced life-altering events.

We work closely with our clients, their families and healthcare professionals, including case managers and therapists, to ensure that every decision is made in our clients' best interests. Our goal is to connect with clients to ensure voices, wishes and feelings are at the forefront whilst providing empathetic legal support post injury.

We are recognised within the practice area of Court of Protection for excelling at what we do, and we are pleased to provide a specialist, bespoke service that benefits both our clients and all those who work with us.

Our clients are individuals who have suffered from traumatic or acquired brain injuries as a result of an illness or injury. We act for clients nationwide.

PRINCIPAL AREAS OF WORK

Court of Protection: the team provide Professional Deputy Services, Lay Deputy Services and deal with applications and proceedings.

Expert Witness Statements: Stacey is regularly instructed as an expert witness in respect of both serious injury and clinical negligence claims. This includes:

• Consideration of expert reports, witness statements and other evidence from the claim.
• Preparation of comprehensive expert statements setting out a detailed consideration of the costs of a professional Deputy or Trustee.
• Attending conferences with counsel and other experts.
• Attending joint meetings and preparation of joint statements.
• Attending before the Court and providing expert evidence.

Stacey has extensive experience as a Deputy for clients in receipt of significant compensation awards and requiring the management of often complex affairs. This means she is well placed to support litigators to ensure any claim for Court of Protection fees is comprehensive and takes into consideration future life events and their impact on the services and fees of a professional Deputy. Thus, avoiding the risk of an under valuation of this element of the claim and inevitable prejudice to the Claimant.

Personal Injury Trusts: At Apricity we also advise on personal injury trusts and prepare documents for lay trustees following an injury claim. We also act as professional trustee for our clients and in circumstances where Court approval is required.

Lasting Powers of Attorney: Apricity Law also advises on the preparation of a Lasting Power of Attorney document for property and finances and health and welfare including registration of the document with the Office of the Public Guardian

OUR TEAM

We (Stacey and Asha) are experienced lawyers who have worked in law for a combined period of over 50 years and have a passion for acting for and empowering vulnerable clients who are unable to make decisions for themselves.

Having both held longstanding senior positions in a corporate firm, we felt it was time for change and took an opportunity to open our own niche practice in an area of law that we love working in. We knew that it would mean we would have the time to focus on what really matters: our clients and their journeys.

We understand the value of people and the impact that a good team has on our clients. We have chosen those who are also passionate about our clients and naturally encompass our values of compassion, respect and empowerment into everyday work. Acting as a Deputy can be busy with a wide range of skills required to manage our client’s lives and so we have expanded our team to welcome Ruth Yates, Finance Operations Manager and Sam Wilson, Court of Protection Executive to help us continue to deliver that excellent client service that our clients deserve.
