Chambers Europe Guide 2026: Summary
Chambers Europe covers a total of 43 jurisdictions, spanning Spain, Italy and the Netherlands as well as Monaco, Kosovo and Andorra. We also provide cross-jurisdictional coverage through our Baltic-wide, Europe-wide and Central & Eastern Europe rankings.
Our dedicated team of researchers conducted in-depth research into the European legal markets between May and November 2025.
During this time, our researchers have thoroughly reviewed law firm submissions and carried out thousands of interviews with referees and lawyers, giving us a detailed view of each jurisdiction and allowing us to produce market-leading rankings and insights.

Chambers Europe Guide 2026: Insights
To illustrate the breadth of market presence among European law firms, the graph below shows which law firms achieved the highest number of department rankings.
We also highlight the top 25 firms with the most Band 1 rankings in Chambers Europe 2026. These firms combine deep sector expertise with consistently excellent feedback from both their clients and the wider legal market.
Chambers Europe Guide 2026: Gender Diversity
Promoting diversity in the legal profession is central to our research, and our team is committed to seeking broader perspective across the markets that we cover.
We continue to see steady growth in the number of female lawyers recognised in our rankings, and we are proud to share the latest figures from our research.
In the 2026 Europe guide, 566 female lawyers have gained new rankings. Female‑ranked lawyers now account for 26.64% of all rankings, up from 25.28% in the 2025 guide. We have seen the greatest increases in Poland and Turkey, where female representation has risen by 4% compared with the previous year. Romania remains at the forefront, continuing to have the highest proportion of female‑ranked lawyers, with women making up 56% of ranked lawyers. In the largest jurisdictions, including Spain and the Netherlands, the ratio of female lawyers has increased by 1% this year.
Associates to Watch and Up-and-Coming Lawyers in Chambers Europe 2026
We continue to focus on strengthening our coverage of both associates and younger partners in the 2026 Europe guide to ensure that we remain at the forefront of identifying the next generation of lawyers across the European legal markets.
Thanks to the depth of our research, we were able to identify more than 627 younger lawyers who gained new rankings as either Associates to Watch or Up-and-Coming partners in the 2026 guide.

New ranking tables and sub-tables
We saw continued growth in engagement from law firms and their referees across Europe which has allowed the team to further expand and consolidate our legal rankings across the continent. This has led to further subsections being added, notably in Italy, where we created dedicated Litigation and Arbitration tables, and in Poland where Litigation now features Elite and Highly Regarded tables.
