How are search results prioritised?

Search results are now based on the following rules, ordered by importance, to help give the user a more exact match to the word or phrase being searched for:

  1. Exact matches: Records with exact word matches will be positioned higher. The presence of exact search phrase matches will result in higher positioning on the search results. The number of times the words within the phrase appear will not affect the positioning.

  1. Adjacent words: Records with key search words positioned next to each other will be placed higher than words with one or more words between them.

  1. Typos: Records with typos rank lower.

If multiple search results have the same search score, they will be organised into alphabetical order to make the search results easier to navigate.

Other factors that influence the search result are:

  • The accuracy and relevance of the search input (e.g. more precise and specific terms rank better)

  • Search results are also influenced by the keywords that are available in the Ranking Tables themselves, in the names of the Firm or Individual, amongst other factors.
