Stoel Rives’ Anchorage-based Environment, Land Use & Natural Resources department is best known for its effective representation of natural resource developers, Alaska Native corporations, and regulated utilities in complex regulatory matters, project development and permitting, infrastructure investments, aggregated resources, and energy litigation.

Our attorneys excel in providing advice and counsel across a broad range of Alaska’s most vital industries. These include energy and infrastructure, including oil and gas upstream and midstream and renewable energy; mining; Alaska Native corporations; timber and forest products; and fisheries.

Our practice advises oil, natural gas, and mining clients on permits and governmental approvals at the federal and state level. We assist oil and gas companies in securing financing for offshore infrastructure projects and represent pipeline carriers, electric public utilities, and other entities before the Regulatory Commission of Alaska. Our work includes providing tax planning and tax structuring advice, as well as drafting and implementing laws and regulations for Alaska’s oil and gas production tax and property tax. Our Arctic Law work includes providing counsel on economic development opportunities in this unique region and providing permitting counseling and litigation support for disputes arising under federal and state environmental laws and regulations.
