The family team, led by Kathryn Peat, advises HNW and UHNW clients on all aspects of family law. The team is recognised for its expertise in complex financial remedy proceedings, nuptial agreements, private children matters, and cases involving international assets, trusts and jurisdictional issues. It also advises unmarried couples on cohabitation matters, Schedule 1 Children Act applications, TOLATA claims, cohabitation agreements and wider wealth protection arrangements.
Clients benefit from the team's close collaboration with the firm's private client and disputes departments, particularly on matters involving substantial wealth, succession planning and cross-border family structures. Nuptial and cohabitation agreements are frequently incorporated into wider wealth-planning strategies.
The team has extensive experience in Non-Court Dispute Resolution (NCDR), helping clients resolve disputes confidentially and efficiently outside the court process. Its expertise spans arbitration, mediation, early neutral evaluation, private FDRs and round table meetings, often combining different forms of NCDR to meet clients' specific objectives.
Kathryn served as a Recorder for more than 20 years and practises as an arbitrator in financial and children matters. Senior Associate Xanthy Papageorgiou is a Resolution-trained mediator who assists couples in reaching agreement on financial and child arrangements issues through a constructive and non-confrontational mediation process.
