Our Consumer Finance Litigation & Recoveries Team operates in all jurisdictions within the UK providing a comprehensive recoveries and litigation service for the recovery of secured and unsecured consumer lending products, including consumer credit products, residential and buy-to-let mortgages, and mortgage shortfall.

Our clients include clearing banks, other retail banks, building societies, other consumer finance lenders and debt purchasers.

Shoosmiths is authorised by the FCA for, amongst other things, debt collection, debt administration, and mortgage administration. Alongside our authorisation by the SRA, our FCA authorisation ensures that, like our clients, we focus on conduct risk and the customer journey ensuring that each individual customer is treated fairly.

We deploy specialist teams for both unsecured and secured consumer debt including mortgage shortfall and locally qualified solicitors in each jurisdiction with detailed knowledge and experience of their local markets.

We provide pre-litigation engagement services (for both secured and unsecured debt) with the aim of avoiding litigation wherever possible and identifying appropriate and sustainable solutions for each customer to repay their debt.
