Overview

The energy and infrastructure group heads up the firm’s project finance practice. This group has advised sponsors and consortiums in all stages of the implementation of their projects in Mexico.

We have acted for lenders (including private lenders and multilaterals) as well as sponsors in the structuring and implementation of project finance transactions related to independent power production, energy self-supply, water treatment facilities, co-generation, gas transportation and storage facilities, toll-road projects, reconfiguration of refineries and infrastructure and energy projects in general. Our energy practice has evolved with market trends, including a recent shift towards renewables (including hydro, wind farms and solar projects).

As counsel to sponsors and consortiums engaged in energy and infrastructure projects in Mexico, the firm participates in the preparation and presentation of bids related with the Mexican oil, gas, power, toll road and related sectors, the structuring and implementation of consortium arrangements, the establishment of Mexican project companies, the negotiation of the applicable project agreements, as well as providing the relevant project company and its sponsors general regulatory and contractual advice.
