Overview

Since our origin in New Orleans in 1853, Phelps Dunbar has developed into a regional legal practice offering services and locations across the Third Coast. Our founding city continues to offer home to Phelps’ largest office, with nearly one hundred attorneys. 

The Baton Rouge office was the first regional office of Phelps Dunbar, opening in 1984 with three attorneys. Today, it has become one of the largest law offices in the state capital with more than 50 attorneys.

We participate in all phases of federal and state court litigation and arbitrations from answering complaints to handling trials and appeals. We have extensive experience dealing with a broad array of administrative charges and investigations before agencies, such as the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs.
