Our Energy & Natural Resources department advises across hydrocarbons, electricity, lithium and mining. We handle regulatory compliance, the structuring and negotiation of contracts, project financing, corporate governance, shareholder representation and dispute resolution for international energy majors, investment funds, infrastructure operators and industrial groups operating in Bolivia.
The department is led by partners Mariana Pereira and Ana Carola Muñoz. Mariana brings over 30 years in the sector and previously served as Director of the Bolivian Hydrocarbons Chamber, placing her at the centre of industry dialogue and regulatory evolution.
Recent highlights include acting as strategic counsel to the international shareholder in the company operating one of Bolivia's principal gas transportation systems to Brazil, on governance and shareholder matters negotiated alongside the state hydrocarbons company; full-scope counsel to the only private electricity transmission company in the country; advice on potassium chloride and sodium carbonate arrangements within Bolivia's emerging lithium value chain; and fuel import, supply and commercialisation mandates.
We are valued for operating in highly regulated and politically sensitive environments where sophisticated structuring and risk management are required, and for combining sector knowledge with the corporate, tax and financing work that energy projects depend on.
