What the team is known for

Nardello & Co. has offices around the globe, including its recently established London site. The firm can provide clients a wide range of intelligence services but is particularly relied on by world-class law firms for its bespoke fact-finding capabilities in preparation for, or during, complex disputes. Sources consider Nardello to be synonymous with a high level of ethical conduct in investigations and recognise its familiarity with civil and common law jurisdictions across the EMEA region.

Strengths

"Nardello & Co. is known for big-ticket litigation."

"We deal with both the London and New York offices of Nardello. The range of work is broad but we go to them for the most complex, high-end work that frequently has significant cross-border components to it. You get the impression that Nardello invests in quality staff."

Work highlights

Nardello & Co. is currently leading an independent investigation on behalf of one of the world’s largest international non-governmental organisations. As part of this assignment, Nardello is investigating whistle-blower accusations of, among other things, financial mismanagement and safeguarding concerns at one of its largest operations in Asia. The investigation comprises interviews with current and former employees, organisational stakeholders and third-party witnesses, a forensic lookback at the finances of its largest in-country operation, a review of the organisation’s policies and procedures, open source research and confidential source inquiries.

Notable practitioners

Martin Stone is a partner and regional head of the firm's EMEA practice, operating primarily out of London. Stone directs the firm's disputes-related intelligence activities, as well as its asset tracing, anti-corruption and due diligence practices.

"He manages a strong team and produces a top-quality work product that is clear, concise and provides answers," says one lawyer, continuing: "He is someone that you really want to have on your team." Another interviewee adds: "Martin instils confidence in his clients. He will never concede that an assignment is impossible, and he always has a view on how Nardello might be able to obtain the information that is needed. His reports always come on time and in budget, and are of a high quality - they're genuinely informative rather than padded with waffle."

Overview

Nardello & Co. takes a creative approach to litigation and arbitration support, finding thoughtful solutions that are time-sensitive and tailored to their clients’ legal strategy. They partner with outside counsel and in-house teams to collect the information needed to get results, whether it’s evidence to support a legal position or for leverage against opponents.

Building a persuasive argument takes accurate information, expert witnesses, and comprehensive forensics — all of which must be ethically obtained. They offer legal investigation services that can bring to light new facts and evidence that have been missed.

Their litigation and arbitration support services include:

  • Discovering, examining, and analyzing information, intelligence, and raw data to realize its evidentiary potential
  • Identifying information regarding its adversaries and their witnesses for impeachment on cross-examination
  • Locating and interviewing potential witnesses
  • Locating confidential sources and finding background information when public records are unavailable, unhelpful, or non-existent
  • Investigating credentials of expert witnesses
  • Identifying and tracing assets
  • Identifying and documenting undisclosed links between subjects and witnesses
  • Retrieving and analyzing data files using digital forensic methodology

In high-stakes litigation and arbitration, digging deeper and getting the facts of the case can make all the difference.
