Overview

MMAKS Advocates is a leading full service law firm in Uganda with a long standing reputation of quality and excellence. It is one of the largest firms in Uganda, with 24 proficiently trained lawyers and a staff complement of 35. Two of its partners are qualified as solicitors of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. 

MMAKS combines a well established litigation and commercial transactional practice. The MMAKS team specializes in the areas of commercial and corporate advisory, property, banking and finance, litigation, dispute resolution and intellectual property. 

The corporate team has a proven track record in structuring  innovative and commercially sound transactions for local and international investors and businesses in the areas of energy, oil and gas, projects, infrastructure, mergers, acquisitions,  general corporate among others. The litigation team advises the Central Bank of Uganda and key commercial banks. It has been involved in ground breaking cases that have greatly shaped Uganda's  legal landscape.

MMAKS  was involved in the negotiation of the project framework agreement for the construction of  Uganda's  first ever oil refinery. It has advised on a number of FMO and PROPARCO  financings and has an impressive debt recovery portfolio.
