About

Provided by McMillan LLP

McMillan offers a unique national platform for its competition law practice with senior group members practicing in Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa and Montréal. With the rapid growth of cross-country class-action litigation in Canada, this broad bench strength provides our clients with a meaningful advantage. McMillan’s competition practice was selected as one of five finalists at the 2017 Chambers Canada Awards for “Competition Team of the Year”. We have been nominated for this award each year since its inception. The Co-Chair of our practice, Neil Campbell, was honoured at the 2016 Global Competition Review Awards as the “Dealmaker of the Year”. Neil is the only Canadian lawyer to have ever won this major GCR award. Five other members of the group are also GCR award winners. Our leading profile in the competition law practice is reflected in our position within the American Bar Association’s Antitrust Section, where we have the most lawyers appointed to leadership positions of any Canadian — or indeed, any non-American — law firm. The global Auto Parts inquiry has been the most significant and the largest competition law investigation worldwide for the last 7 years. We have been retained to defend more than 30 different actions in the various Auto Parts class actions — the most of any Canadian law firm. We have also played central roles in most of the other major competition class actions in Canada including credit cards, optical disk drives, and car carriers.
