About

Provided by Baker & Partners

Baker & Partners is an independent specialist litigation and dispute resolution practice headquartered in Jersey operating in the BVI and Cayman Islands with an office in London as well.

We have been at the forefront of some of the most complex and high value offshore litigation. We take the view that no legal problem is unsolvable.

We remain conflict free by not operating an associated trust company or financial services business.

Our lawyers have extensive practical experience in the courts of not only Jersey but also England & Wales, Cayman and the BVI. Their skills, both inside and outside of the courtroom, allow us to achieve our clients’ aims in an efficient and cost-effective way.

Representative work highlights include:

  • Fraud & Asset Recovery: Global counsel to the liquidators of the offshore structure used to launder the proceeds of this vast multi jurisdictional fraud where some USD$9 billion were stolen from Malaysia through the purported sovereign wealth fund 1MDB and its sister company SRC.
  • Trust Disputes: We represented the professional trustee in the Crociani litigation, one of the biggest breach of trust cases in recent Jersey legal history.
  • Commercial & Civil Disputes: Acted for a Jersey lawyer in a dispute between former partners of a Jersey law firm, over whether shares in a trust company were sold at an undervalue. The damages claimed exceeded £100m. The case was compromised a week into the trial without any damages being paid.
