Our Banking & Finance team is part of our 40+ member Finance & Projects group. It comprises over 30 Japanese and foreign attorneys and handles a wide variety of transactional banking work, particularly domestic and cross-border acquisition finance, project finance (including renewable energy), PFI/PPP, structured finance and real estate finance transactions. We also regularly advise on regulatory issues in the finance sector, particularly on fintech matters and sustainable finance. We have strength and depth in our practice, with a host of leading individuals who are active in this space.

In addition to Gavin Raftery, who is ranked in Band 1 for the Japan Banking & Finance: International section, and is also co-managing partner of the Tokyo office, we have Shinichiro Kitamura, who heads the firm’s Finance & Projects group in Tokyo. Our leading individuals in the team also include partners Kosuke Suzuki, Masato Honma, Pierre Chiasson, Akiko Hosokawa and Toshio Shimada.
