The Senior Partner, Sternford Moyo, has led the firm with his vast experience which spans across 43 years advising financial institutions and loan underwriters in most of the large infrastructure projects that have taken place in post independent Zimbabwe in areas such as mining, forestry, energy, water supply and telecommunications.He actively led in advising on the following projects, amongst others.

  • Advice relating to a private placement including preparation of relevant opinions. The placement was to raise money for a large mining project relating to a purchase in 2021 of mining claims worth in excess of US$400 million.
  • Tax advice relating to payment corporate tax in foreign currency. The advice was sought by one of the large platinum mining companies in Zimbabwe
  • General compliance issues relating to new foreign investment. The advice was sought by the largest granite mining company in Zimbabwe.
  • Intragroup support services agreement with emphasis on compliance with Zimbabwean transfer pricing regulations. The advice was sought by a large agricultural conglomerate with subsidiaries operating in Zimbabwe.
  • Advice relating to restructuring of a foreign company with some companies in Zimbabwe. The advice was sought by an international firm through its Johannesburg based branch.
  • Advice relating to decarbonisation and the energy regulatory regime in Zimbabwe. The advice was sought by an international law firm through its Johannesburg based branch.
  • Due diligence on mining claims. The work was done on behalf of one of the largest gold mining companies as a prelude to an M&A transaction.
  • Advice relating to establishment of a resources company in Zimbabwe. The advice was given to a large international mining company which recently established an investment in Zimbabwe.
  • Sale of shares advice. The advice is being given to one of the largest South African law firms
  • Advised on a financing transaction involving regional financial institutions in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia and Kenya for a power project with a facility value of US$50 million where he is collaborating with a team from Bowmans attorneys in South Africa.
