Having developed mutually beneficial relationships with firms in other African countries, the firm has been able to assist its clients with solutions to their IP challenges in the ARIPO and OAPI treaty countries such as Kenya, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Cape Verde, Ghana and Sierra Leone among others.

Main Areas of Practice: 

Anticounterfeiting & Brand Protection:
■ Conducted anticounterfeiting raids in conjunction with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) within formal and informal markets, and advised on anticounterfeiting / prosecution strategies for the client Moët Hennessy
■ Assisted GSK with counterfeit notification in liaison with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)
■ Represented SAMSUNG in anticounterfeiting preraid investigations, as well as advising the client on best strategies for brand protection and prosecution

Litigation:
■ Represented Moët Hennessy, while working with NAFDAC, in the criminal prosecution of a suspect arraigned at the Federal High Court Lagos for counterfeiting
■ Represented The Panda Group of Rosemead at the Federal High Court Lagos in an appeal from the decision of the Trademark Tribunal concerning the registration of its trademark. Currently representing the client in a further appeal to the Court of Appeal
