Founded by Mrs. Manik Karanjawala and Mr. Raian Karanjawala in 1983, operates out of three offices in New Delhi. ■ Represented Arcelor Mittal India Private Limited in its acquisition of Essar Steel, which was a crucial strategic step for ArcelorMittal in its journey to build a meaningful production presence in India.
■ Representing Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd. against Mr. Cyrus Mistry (erstwhile Chairman of Tata Sons), in one of the most hotly contested and widely covered corporate battles in India’s recent history of corporate disputes.
■ Represented Mr. Nusli Wadia against Ivory Hotels and Properties Pvt. Limited and Ferani Hotels Private Limited in a reference relating to the interpretation of the term “jurisdiction” used in Section 9A of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, as applicable in the State of Maharashtra.
■ Representing Mr. Jack Dorsey, Co-Founder and CEO of Twitter, in a defamation case filed against him and secured a stay of arrest for him.
■ Represented TATA Steel Ltd. in the corporate insolvency resolution process initiated against Bhushan Steel Ltd., enabling TATA Steel Ltd. to successfully acquire Bhushan Steel Ltd.
■ Represented Price Waterhouse (PwC) whereby 11 PwC firms were banned for a period of two years from providing their audit services to listed companies in India for their alleged role in satyam scam, among many others is a testimony to his long-standing experience.

Arbitration: 

10 Partners, based in New Delhi.

■ Successfully represented TATA Motors Ltd. (TML), in arbitration proceedings against Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). The firm continues to represent TML before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi in the Section 34 Petition was filed by DTC against the Award, which is pending adjudication. The firm also represents TML in proceedings filed to enforce the Award which are also pending before the High Court of Delhi.
■ Successfully represented Centrotrade Minerals and Metals Inc., an American company, against Hindustan Copper Limited before the Supreme Court in establishing the legality of two-tier arbitrations in the country, this judgment has changed the landscape of arbitration law under the 1996 regime.
■ Successfully represented Adani Enterprises Ltd. (AEL) in an arbitration dispute seeking the reimbursement of expenses/payments made by AEL on behalf of UCM Coal Company Ltd (UCMCCL) in exploring, developing and operating the Chendipada Coal Blocks which were cancelled by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India by its decision in Manohar Lal Sharma vs. Union of India & Ors. AEL had been appointed as a Mine Developer and Operator by UCMCCL for developing and operating the Coal Blocks under a Mining Contract.
■ Successfully represented GMR Infrastructure Ltd., against an order of SEBI, rejecting its plea to allow the capitalization of its borrowing costs and direct and indirect expenses.
