Wim Nauwelaerts is an experienced practitioner who is well-versed on all aspects of EU and international data protection and privacy law.
Wim has almost 20 years of experience assisting large, multinational organizations with various aspects of privacy, data protection and cybersecurity, including preparation for the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), data transfer strategies, data security and breach requirements and compliance training. He also assists clients with contract negotiations and represents them before Supervisory Authorities. While Wim counsels clients in a variety of sectors, he has particular experience with life sciences, technology and new media clients.
Wim frequently coordinates global privacy projects for large, multinational clients in all types of industries. He regularly assists clients in crafting and implementing comprehensive programs as a critical step in helping to ensure that personal data are used appropriately and safeguarded against loss and unauthorized use or disclosure. Most recently his work has included advising clients on compliance with the EU GDPR.
Wim has written and spoken widely on privacy-related topics, such as cloud computing, interest-based advertising, cross-border discovery and privacy compliance in pharmaceutical research, and is also a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
