Viren Mascarenhas

Viren Mascarenhas is the founding partner of Mascarenhas Law PLLC, which is a New York-headquartered disputes boutique focused on commercial, construction, and investment arbitration. The firm also specializes in U.S. litigation relating to arbitration and foreign (non-U.S.) proceedings, such as enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards. Members of the firm also sit as arbitrators and mediators.

The firm's members collectively have over four decades of experience gained at BIGLAW firms that specialize in international arbitration. Mascarenhas Law PLLC therefore is able to deliver true value to its clients, as the autonomy of the firm allows it to represent clients using fee arrangements (hourly, fixed, capped, success/contingency) that are most suitable for the matters, especially smaller and mid-sized claims (under USD 100 million).

In addition to being ranked in Chambers Global and Chambers USA for international arbitration, Viren has been recognized by The Legal 500, Lawdragon, Latinvex, Law360, The New York Law Journal, the American Bar Association, the South Asian Bar Association, and Crain's New York Business. Prior to founding Mascarenhas Law PLLC, Viren led the international arbitration practice at Milbank LLP and previously was a partner at King & Spalding LLP. He served as a law clerk for H.E. Rosalyn Higgins at the International Court of Justice at the start of his career and also worked as a Legal Officer at the Special Court for Sierra Leone, a U.N.-backed war crimes tribunal headquartered in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Viren is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Viren is also a Lecturer-in-Law at Columbia Law School, where he teaches international arbitration.
