Tsuyoshi Sueyoshi

Tsuyoshi Sueyoshi is a partner of Yuasa and Hara in Tokyo. Dr Sueyoshi is well grounded in science and technology and has experiences in R&D of private businesses. His practice covers intellectual property and technology-related disputes, negotiations and business transactions, especially in patent litigation and invalidation proceedings as well as licensing. Dr Sueyoshi represents domestic and international clients in the Japanese court for infringement cases and in the Japan Patent Office for invalidation proceedings.

Dr Sueyoshi has handled cases in various industries including pharmaceuticals both in low molecules and biologics; biotechnology; diagnostics; microbial process; performance chemicals and materials; chemical engineering; electronic devices such as liquid crystal displays, OLED and Li ion battery; semiconductors; telecommunications and software; mobile games, infrastructures and consumer products. He is also familiar with paten term extension (SPC) issues.

Dr Sueyoshi majored in chemistry at the Faculty of Science, University of Tokyo (BSc), and obtained his PhD studying physical chemistry and surface science at the Graduate School of Science, University of Tokyo. He joined one of the largest chemical companies in Japan and worked in its R&D center for five years. Following his experience in patent prosecution practice under qualification for the JPO, he qualified as a Japanese lawyer.
