R. Troy Smith is a distinguished litigator with an impressive track record spanning over 25 years, earning him a reputation as a “go-to” lawyer for high-stakes litigation. His practice now centers on navigating the landscape of business and contractual disputes throughout the state of Florida. Troy’s legal work has been repeatedly recognized by Super Lawyers and Florida Trend’s Legal Elite. He is also listed in The Best Lawyers in America (Litigation: Intellectual Property Practice and Commercial Litigation Practice).

Troy is a member of both the Federal Bar Association and the Jacksonville Bar Association. He previously served on the Board of Governors of the JBA Young Lawyers Section, as well as the Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee and Constitution Revision Subcommittee of the Florida Bar. He currently serves on the American Inns of Court, the Chester Bedell Inn of Court, the Christian Legal Society, and with LifeWork Leadership First Coast/Jacksonville.

Troy received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 1993, and a law degree from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 1996. Prior to joining the Bedell team as a Director in 2024, Troy was a partner with two of the largest international and Florida-based law firms with offices located in Jacksonville, Florida.
