Tjitske Cieremans specialises mainly in professional and directors’ liability, contractual claims and personal injuries involving product liability, accidents or occupational accidents and diseases. She assists insurers and companies in handling complex claims, dealing with policy disputes and recourse cases and conducting proceedings before the ordinary courts, disciplinary tribunals, arbitration institutes and mediators. Tjitske also specialises in market supervision and regulation and the organisation of the insurance and intermediary industry. She often advises foreign insurers and brokers on this subject.
Career
Tjitske studied Arabic language and literature and Dutch law at the University of Leiden and has worked as a lawyer since 1991. She started her career at NautaDutilh, where she became partner in 2001. She was a member of NautaDutilh’s Executive Board from 2004 to 2007.
Professional Memberships
Tjitske is a member of the Disciplinary Proceedings Committee of the Netherlands Bar Association. She is also a member of several insurance and legal associations.
Personal
Outside her work, Tjitske holds positions with various organisations, including the board of a foundation to promote charitable works in Rotterdam and the board of Arboretum Trompenburg. For twelve years she chaired the corporate pension fund of NautaDutilh. She was previously on the supervisory board of a children’s charitable foundation involved in the sale of special postage stamps, and on the supervisory board of the Rotterdam Bar Association and the Rotterdam Economic Development Board.
