About
VanNiekerkCieremans opened its doors on 1 September 2014. It is established by the former NautaDutilh’s Rotterdam insurance department, then headed by Eric van Niekerk and Tjitske Cieremans. They were accompanied from the start by multiple associates from the same department including Patrick van der Vorst and Emma Krikke, currently partners at VanNiekerkCieremans.
The boutique firm works almost exclusively in insurance and civil liability, providing high quality advice in a personal setting. Clients characterise VanNiekerkCieremans’ advice as an unique combination of pragmatism, commerciality and quality. The firm’s insurance litigation practise has a strong reputation (both with clients and counterparties) for dealing with complex, high-value and high-profile claims. The firm is proficient and experienced in multi-party litigation.
The team provides a broad range of services to insures, reinsurers and brokers, as well as (large) companies. Aside from advising on liability matters and policies, construction all-risks (CAR) policies, real estate insurance policies, machinery breakdown policies, Directors & Officers policies and international insurance policies, the team also handles recall and recourse cases (usually regarding fire and machinery breakdown matters), provides assistance in connection with regulatory issues, disaster planning, litigation risk management and assist with negotiations between various insurers of an insurance tower.
