THOMAS P. PARRINO is a partner and co-founder of PARRINO|SHATTUCK, PC. His practice encompasses all areas of family law, including divorce, alimony, child custody, child support, and property division. Parrino has practiced family law for more than 25 years and is regarded as a leading attorney in the field, entrusted with some of the most intricate, high-asset matrimonial litigation in Connecticut. He is a tenacious negotiator and litigator. Parrino is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. He serves as a Fellow and is a Past President of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He currently chairs the Chapter’s Amicus Committee, having previously chaired its Rules and Arbitration committees and its Examining Committee. He also belongs to the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and to the American, Connecticut, and Fairfield County bar associations.
Parrino recently served as a delegate to the National Board of Governors of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Earlier, he chaired the National Admissions Committee and sat on the National Test Subcommittee. He is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. Parrino co-authored a chapter in Family Law Jurisdictional Comparisons, Second Edition 2013, a book published by European Lawyer/Thomson Reuters. The volume grew out of the increasing significance of international family law and was intended as a definitive guide to family law across core jurisdictions around the world, comprising six U.S. states and 37 countries. His chapter addressed subjects that exemplify Connecticut family law, among them finances and capital, property, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, child maintenance, surrogacy and adoption, civil partnership and same-sex marriage, and financial relief following foreign divorce proceedings.
Parrino has also lectured extensively on family law matters throughout his career. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and his juris doctor from the University of Bridgeport, subsequently succeeded by Quinnipiac University School of Law.
